Macro- and Micro-Dispersion of Filler

For the quantitative analysis of phase specific filler distribution in rubber blends a method on the basis of Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) was developed for the investigation of the rubber-filler gel.  With this method it is possible to analyze the kinetic of wetting, dispersion and distribution of filler during the mixing process. Different filler, like carbon black, carbon nanotubes and nanoclay were investigated in polymer matricees like NR, SBR, NBR, HNBR, EPDM, ENR and silicone rubber. Furthermore, silica was used as filler and the analysis of phase selective filler localization on rubber-filler gel was conducted by FTIR and DSC.
